2,530 victims of domestic violence granted indefinite leave to remain

Green: Immigration statistics for 2009 due to be published

Since Domestic Violence rule was introduced in 2002, at least 2,530 women have been granted indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom, Immigration Minister Damian Green has said.

Of these 710 were granted in 2009, the last year for which figures are available. The figure for 2009 is provisional and subject to change, the minister said.

In a written response to Ms. Bridget Phillipson, MP for Houghton and Sunderland South, Mr. Green said a range of immigration statistics for 2009 are due to be published in the Home Office bulletin "Control of Immigration Statistics United Kingdom, 2009" on 26th August 2010.

Ms. Phillipson asked the Home Department how many women had been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK under the domestic violence rule since the rule was introduced and n the last 12 months.
