Majority of Italians support birthright citizenship law - The Africa News


Majority of Italians support granting citizenship to children born in Italy of immigrant parents, a new poll by Ipsos has revealed.

Addressing a conference in Milan, Ipsos Italia president Nando Pagnoncelli said that 64% of Italians support birthright citizenship law.

The Ipsos poll also revealed that 61% of Italians consider immigrants a resource for the country and not a threat.

Mr. Pagnoncelli further said that most of the people they interviewed would like Italy to retain the crime of illegal immigration while 42% would like it to be abolished.
