UGL: Issue humanitarian permits to victims of earthquake - The Africa News

UGL trade union has asked Italian government to issue humanitarian permits to immigrants who have been affected by the recent earth in Emilia Romagna.

Marina Porro, Confederal Secretary of UGL said they already made a similar proposal in the past when earthquake hit Abruzzo and it was accepted.

The government should do the same to immigrants in Emilia Romagna, she said.

Considering the serious damages caused by the earthquake and the long time it will take before production can resume in Emilia Romagna, granting humanitarian permits would save immigrants and their families from fear of deportation, Ms. Porro said.
