The government will soon implement a new system that will drastically reduce the waiting times for renewal of Permits of Stay, Home Affairs Minister Anna Maria Cancellieri has said.
This may involve the use of a software that will make it possible for the applicant to be given an appointment with the immigrations office at the time of submitting the application.
Ms. Cancellieri said that the new system will become effective “as soon as it will be ready”. Most likely this will be within a couple of weeks.
The minister once again said that they were re-examining the newly introduced tax on the Permits of Stay.
She said that they were focusing on developing new procedures for renewal of Permits of Stay and applications for citizenship.
