I have all other documents ready, except the one regarding availability of suitable accommodation. I own an apartment in which I live and my partner should come to stay with me. Where can I go to obtain a document showing that we have a suitable apartment with enough room to host my partner? Some say that I should go to the City Council’s office to ask for a plan of the apartment and wait for the City Council officers to come to inspect my apartment before they can issue me the required document. In any case my apartment is 120 square meters and we are already four people living in it. If my partner joins me, then we’ll be five. But others tell me that I can simply make a declaration that I’ll provide my partner accommodation. I don’t know what to do. Please help me.
Answer: First of all, the apartment you own is suitable to accommodate 7 to 8 people, even more, so there should be no problem at all in obtaining the required document from either the City Council or the Local Health Office (ASL).
You should go to either the City Council or the Local Health Office (ASL) in your area and apply for the certificate of suitable accommodation (certificate di idoneità alloggiativa). Please go to either of the above offices and they’ll tell you the documents required to apply for the certificate of suitable accommodation. After obtaining this certificate, you should go to the local police station and make a declaration that you are hosting your partner. You can then enclose these two documents to your partner’s application for the Permit of Stay for self-employed work.
