In order to apply for family reunification, the applicant is required to prove that they have suitable accommodation that meets the health and hygiene standards established by the law.
In the Circular Letter 1575/2008, Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that should the applicant indicate that the family member will live in a different apartment from the one in which the applicant lives, then the applicant will have to provide proof that that apartment meets the health and hygiene standards.

A foreigner who holds an EC long term residence permit issued by an EU Member State may go for work in another Member State under certain conditions. This right is prescribed by the Council Directive 2003/109/EC of 25 November 2003 concerning the status of third-country nationals who are long-term residents.
The EU Directive was transposed into Italian law by Legislative Decree Number 3 of 2007.
